Narconon Colorado Saved My Life

When a person is able to overcome their addiction they are able to get their life back.

“Narconon Colorado saved my life; just like their logo says, “A Life Worth Saving” and the staff truly believes this. I was an opiate/heroin addict for over 8 years and never thought I would get sober. I ended up going to jail and then a halfway house. That experience made me realize I could and wanted to be sober. I thought I was good, but once I got out, I relapsed instantly. My parents asked me to get help and they found Narconon Colorado.
I honestly don’t know where I would be today if I didn’t have the help from my family, Kyle, Glen, and the Narconon staff.
This facility interested me because of the sauna program; I had never heard of anything like this and thought it sounded like a good place for my first rehab. (I had tried an outpatient rehab previously but that didn’t help me at all. So, I don’t consider that a rehab program.) When I got to the facility I was happy to know the staff could relate to me because most had been through an addiction as well. It also made me see that it actually is possible. Each staff member has helped me in some way get through difficult times in my recovery. I stayed for the after-care program because I knew I needed to continue working on some stuff and wanted this to be my one and only rehab. I was also able to help others in the process.
It's honestly amazing how far I’ve come and continue to grow! I found some older photos of me and just couldn’t believe how bad I looked compared to how I look now. I never understood why people used to ask me if I was doing okay, but now I do; it's because I looked like a skeleton. I want people to understand it is possible to get away from that life.
I never thought it was until I finally got help and have now been sober since the end of April 2016. I used to get so mad at my mom for telling people what I was going through, asking people their advice, or the biggest of them all—saying addiction was like cancer, you just never know how it’s going to go or when it may come back. Now that I'm sober and not ashamed of my past—I understand! I'm now very open with what I’ve been through because I want others to know they’re not alone and you can free yourself from it! The facility didn’t just help me with addiction they also helped me with my past abuse. I always kept that to myself as well because I was ashamed of not getting away from it. It isn’t easy to get away from either of these things but it's possible and makes life so much better!
I am now training to be a staff member at the facility and couldn’t be happier helping others who are going through what I went through. I want to say Thank You to Narconon Colorado and to the staff. I really appreciate all you do and can’t thank you enough for helping me get my life back and helping me continue to build! Live life one step at a time, one day at a time!“
