Dispute and Grievance Procedures

  1. If a Student has a grievance about a service he or she is receiving, or with a staff member, contractor or another student at Narconon Colorado – A Life Worth Saving, the student should attempt to resolve it with communication and understanding.

  2. If the problem cannot be resolved in this way, the student is to consult the Ethics Officer or the Supervisor of the section of the program in which they are participating, who will ask the student to report the grievance in writing. The written report should state the nature of the grievance, the services or personnel involved, and exact details to give a clear understanding of the situation.

  3. Any student at Narconon Colorado-A Life Worth Saving who seeks help in filing a grievance or complaint or appealing a grievance may ask the Withdrawal Officer or Director of Rehabilitation or the Rehabilitation Services Secretary to advocate for him or her.

  4. It is the responsibility of the Deputy Executive Director to ensure that each student grievance is promptly resolved.

  5. There shall be no retaliation or barriers to service to the student as a result of filing a grievance.

  6. All efforts will be made to resolve the grievance in a timely manner. While most grievances will be resolved within seven days, some grievances may not be able to be resolved within that time, but efforts will be made to resolve each grievance as rapidly as possible. All grievances will be resolved utilizing the Colorado Department of Human Services Behavioral Health Administration rules.

  7. If a student feels that there is unnecessary delay in a resolution, then he or she has the right to write a report to the Executive Director of Narconon Colorado-A Life Worth Saving stating the grievance and any problems regarding its resolution.

  8. If a grievance concerning an addiction counselor is not satisfactorily resolved, complaints may be directed to:
