Growth Through Recovery

Guy in Nature

Addiction recovery is a process of personal growth and change. Recent graduates share their stories of learning to face their problems and learn from them.

“I learned that confronting people you are ashamed to disappoint is necessary for the recovery process. Being honest is liberating. Holding yourself accountable creates future opportunity. Having the freedom to speak and write freely without reservation opens ground for trust and support. I have learned that living in isolation without objectives creates more confusion. Being humble enough to accept support is powerful, reaching out in need of help is challenging. I’ve learned much about myself and those I chose to surround myself with.” —Ryan P.

“The Narconon Program was an interesting and challenging journey. I really didn’t know what I was signing up for coming in. However, I knew I needed help with multiple issues. First was my alcohol abuse, I was on a path of total destruction. I was able to manage life fairly well for a long period of time, but that was no longer the case. Negatives started outweighing the positives when it came to my addiction. The real scary part was the alcohol consumption increased when bad things happened. I was using to cope with issues versus addressing them head-on. Next is my relationship with my daughter, I messed that up in so many ways, it’s hard to count. However, I did write my first letter to her while I was here, it felt good. Once completed, I thought “Wow that was tough” but I was glad I did it. I’m ready for the next step of the program, to be happy, embrace life and everything in it.” —Chris S.
