I Don’t Need Alcohol

Pensive man

When a person gets far enough along in an addiction they begin to feel and believe that they need their drug of choice in order to be ok. This can be a very real barrier to someone’s ability to get and stay sober. A big lesson that needs to be learned in addiction recovery in order for it to be successful is the realization that one not only does not need their drug of choice but that their life can become so much better without it. When a person is able to truly understand this, they are better prepared for success. This is one of those things that a person must discover for themselves in order to be truly effective.

“To me completing withdrawal is only the first step to my complete recovery, although it is a massive step. I came here to get myself clean and healthy. Being here for a few days has allowed me to think about going forward in my life and never to look back on the past. It has allowed me to meet some great people who have gone through the program and hear about their stories and have them give me hope that I will succeed and live an even more worthwhile life.
One of the other benefits of being here in withdrawal is to see and experience that I don’t need alcohol to live and be alive. It has allowed me to see how wonderful of a family I have and how great of friends I have who support me and the choice I have made to get help. It has shown me that the staff here is awesome and they are amazing at what they do. They are incredible and inspiring and totally have changed my outlook on life.”
