Learning to Analyze Different Personality Traits

Learning how to analyze different personality types is a major aspect of The Ups and Downs Course at Narconon Colorado. While this phase of the program is comprised of several different aspects, the major take away is learning how to recognize the different personalities of the people around us. By learning to recognize constructive and destructive personality types a person is better able to surround themselves with positive influences that will be supportive of their sobriety.
“I recently completed Ups and Downs in Life, Analyzing Social and Anti-Social Personalities. I analyzed the immediate and close individuals in my life and found that they were all social personalities. While writing a letter to each of these individuals, I began to feel much better about our relationships. I was much more clear-minded about the direction the letter was heading. I mentioned to each person that I took responsibility for my actions that led me to where I am today. Upon completion of each letter, I felt a sense of accomplishment. I was speaking from my heart for the first time in a while. I learned a wealth of knowledge from this assignment and I plan to use it every day of my life. I am very thankful to have learned from this assignment and look forward to the next one. Each day I continue to move forward to a much brighter future.” -John G.
“That was awesome! Writing my Wins and Gains repeatedly made me feel really proud and worth supporting here. Having to put distance and boundaries may have been painful, but I will be able to envision a life with fewer roadblocks now. Mostly, I realized the people in my life are fabulous and I am very lucky.” -Amber O.
“This course has been an eye-opener for me and I feel better equipped and confident when it comes to dealing with my relationships. I am excited to continue forward…”
“This phase of the program did not disappoint. I fully understand how every phase leading up to this has prepared me for it. I now understand different personality types, which will help me communicate in a constructive manner as well as be sympathetic when others try to push my buttons. This course has been an eye-opener for me and I feel better equipped and confident when it comes to dealing with my relationships. I am excited to continue forward. Each day has been a success so far, I appreciate the staff and all their hard work and willingness to help me through it.” -Clint M.

An important aspect of maintaining a sober lifestyle is setting and achieving goals in different areas of one’s life. The hard work doesn’t stop when someone leaves treatment; this is actually the time when it is important to apply the skills that were learned during one’s program. One of our recent graduates shares the goals he has been working on since completing his time at Narconon.
